LG Electronics has selected the Anritsu MD8430A LTE Signaling Tester and MX786201A Rapid Test Designer (RTD) software as a primary test solution for device development, integration, and performance testing. Anritsu’s solution supports data rates higher than 100 Mbits/s in the downlink and 50 Mbits/s in the uplink as well as the latest 3GPP standards.

During the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the companies demonstrated maximum download speeds from a simulated Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network to the LG LTE USB modem with the MD8430A Signaling Tester serving as the LTE basestation and network simulator. The MX786201A RTD software was used for test automation.

According to Anritsu, the high-performance, cost-effective MD8430A LTE network simulator lets manufacturers of LTE chipsets and mobile devices evaluate products and improve time-to-market (see the figure). It provides test capability for protocol and application tests, including throughput, inter-RAT, and intra-RAT. Also, it can be used as a building block for Anritsu’s Conformance Test systems. Its built-in 4-RF capability allows for the testing of 2x2 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) handoff and simulation of complex RF environments in a single instrument.

Anrtisu also says that the MX786201A RTD software enables users to create test cases far beyond that of traditional language-based tools. Its user interface offers an intuitive test case creation environment, the company says, through “point and click” test case creation and easy-to-understand setting screens, allowing users to quickly build a library of working test cases. Also, its intelligent test case analysis and pass/fail criteria definition, elimination of the compile step needed with traditional tools, and other features are designed to make the software truly user-friendly.
