Recently issued patent covers WLAN performance-measurement technology
AirMagnet has received a U.S. Patent that covers the testing and measurement of throughput from a wireless client to an access point (AP) in a wireless LAN (WLAN). With this technology, AirMagnet is the only WLAN vendor to actively test the network from the end-user perspective, providing critical information on client performance. Developed by AirMagnet’s CTO, Chia-Chee Kuan, as well as chief architect, Miles Wu, and president and CEO, Dean Au, this patent (U.S. Patent No. 7,009,957) delivers a key technique for determining the performance of clients in a wireless environment.
“The ability to actively calculate throughput based on data that is in the 802.11 standard allows us to ensure client performance on a WLAN said Chia-Chee Kuan. “We are the only vendor that offers this active testing from the perspective of an end-user laptop, enabling us to accurately report on client performance in real-time.”
