Add Dictionaries To Your iPhone And iPod
The next time you’re looking for the right word, you can pull out your Apple iPhone or iPod Touch and consult the experts. Paragon Software Group has launched the Merriam-Webster Unabridged Edition of its dictionary as well as the Miriam-Webster Spanish-English and French-English dictionaries for these mobile devices, providing one-click access to comprehensive word and phrase definitions.
The Merriam-Webster Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged, includes more than 476,000 entries with more than 143,000 etymologies detailing word origins, 100,000 quotations, and 1100 synonym paragraphs. The French-English dictionary offers extensive coverage of Canadian French with more than 80,000 entry words and phrases and 100,000 translations, while the Spanish-English Dictionary covers Latin American and European Spanish with more than 80,000 entries and 100,000 translations.
Once installed, these dictionaries can be accessed anywhere, anytime, without an Internet connection or additional charges. Paragon’s SlovoEd engine compresses the Merriam-Webster database to a minimum of memory space while allowing users to perform multiple lookups. The programs are supported by the iPhone 3G and iPod touch with firmware 2.0.
The Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged, costs $59.99, while the Spanish-English and French-English titles are $24.99 each. They are available at the Apple Store at www.apple.com/iphone/appstore/.
