Le Mobile 2.0 Conference Selects Top 28 European Startups

Scheduled for March 10 and 11, the Le Mobile 2.0 conference in Paris has selected the finalists for its Zapping du Mobile Startup Showcase. These finalists, regarded by the show’s organizers as key indicators of future mobile trends, were selected from a pool of 101 entries representing 24 countries. This year’s conference is focused on the theme of “Useful, Usable, Used,” looking at the increasingly important role of meeting end users’ needs. These include mobile social networks, mobile advertising, widgets, and iPhone and Android applications.

Hailing from 12 different countries, these finalists include 3999, Actimos, Adaptive Networks, Atlas CT, Campfire, Floobs, GravityZoo, Haploid, Hiogi, Ikodz, Lastminute.com, Locle, Masabi, Mippin, MMTRG Studio, Mobile Tracing Service, Moninear, Mobshop, Movidia, Nulaz, Pikkoo, RingRing Media, SoSoftware, TexoMobile, V3D, V4x, Webwag, and Yoose. Their products and services span the full spectrum of the end user experience.

For example, Movidia announced its MA1110 in January. According to the company, it’s the first processor in the world to allow users to perform complex video post-production on a mobile phone in real time. Its functions include real-time image stabilization, super-resolution zoom, slow motion, and color matching. It also supports the high resolutions of all standard audio and video codecs and application programming interfaces to ensure full compatibility with a wide range of content.

The reLive application from Atlas CT enables users to take photos with their mobile phones and then tag those photos to the precise location where they were taken on the map, creating interactive travelog maps. Campfire’s Catooz application has partnered with Marvel Comics to provide comics right to mobile phones, including cinematic sound and customizable language options. Webwag publishes mobile and Web widget convergent solutions to help users create personalized home pages with data feeds and Web 2.0 services that are always accessible from any computer, mobile, or navigation system.

The Startup Showcase will conclude on March 11.
