Triquint’s Tx module reaches a new milestone

This week at the European Microwave Week, TriQuint Semiconductor, Inc had two things to celebrate. The 5th anniversary of its Design Center in Munich, and the 100 million milestone for a transmit (Tx) module designed and developed at this center. By integrating multiple power amplifiers, filtering, control circuitry, the switch function and ESD protection, these highly integrated GSM/GPRS and EDGE Tx modules allow cellular handset makers to replace several discrete parts with one integrated component.

Graham Teague, managing director for TriQuint Semiconductor GmbH said “The establishment of the design center in Munich, a high tech hub for Europe, has helped TriQuint assemble a world-class engineering, technical and support team from all across Europe and has bolstered our GSM expertise. Today, we have a well rounded technology portfolio which supports all key air interfaces, from cost-effective GSM/GPRS and CDMA2000, to high-performance EDGE, WEDGE and EV-DO.”

Contributing to this milestone is the recently announced volume shipments of TQM6M4028E QUANTUM Tx module to ZTE Corporation for use in Vodafone’s models 125 and 225, phones designed for the ultra low cost market.
