Interop’s SMSC Breaks 36,000 MDA Threshold
At the CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment tradeshow held earlier in September, Interop Technologies announced its SMSC 4 Series, the world’s highest throughput for SMS Centers, according to Interop. The SMSC 4 Series can provide up to 36,000 MDAs per second, which is more than double the highest SMSC throughput out there. This advancement helps eliminate delayed messages for customers and improve cost efficiencies for companies.
This scalability solution combines SMS routers, clustering and load-balancing technologies, and intelligent route caching to provide extreme scalability—which according to Interop eliminates the need for multiple SMSCs. And less equipment means less personnel—which leads to lower overhead and costs.
SMSC 4 can be scaled to meet the needs of virtually any wireless operator, and with a projected forecast of 2.3 trillion messages to be sent in 2008, according to Gartner, Inc., operators are going to need a little more horsepower.
"This throughput level is an achievement for the industry and Interop Technologies," says Will Hodgman, executive vice president of comScore. "The number of American sending text messages grew 31% over the past year, with 117 million using SMS in June. This technology is very important and timely due to the surging demand for text messaging."
