High-Capacity LTE UE Simulator Offers More Accurate Results
The LTE UE Simulation test system from Catapult Communications Corp. delivers more reliable, accurate test results by simulating actual traffic loads at full level in each of up to four sectors. The system can simulate thousands of UEs performing voice, video, and data calls over the CPRI.
Previously, this testing had to be performed using large banks of manually operated UEs, or performance had to be estimated from low-capacity functional tests, according to the company. So besides the improved testing, users save money and reduce the time required to conduct tests, notes Catapult.
The LTE User Equipment Simulation system is based on Catapult’s t600 microTCA chassis combined as a peripheral with Catapult’s flagship DCT2000 m500 platform. Connection to the eNode B under test is accomplished using the CPRI standard, a cost-effective method of optical and electrical connection without the need for LTE radio heads. With its scalable architecture, the t600 chassis supports from one to three sectors with up to 400 connected UEs per sector. For each sector, single and multiple antenna architectures up to 4-by-4 MIMO are supported.
The company will demonstrate the LTE UE Simulation test system at the 2009 GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Feb. 16-19.
