16-Channel DAC Boosts Audio, Cuts Power
The 24-bit ADAU1966 16-channel audio digital-to-analog converter (DAC) from Analog Devices specs a 118-dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at 32- to 192-kHz sampling rates at a power consumption of less than 300 mW for 16-channel operation. This is achieved by running the digital portion of the ADAU1966 at a lower voltage from an integrated linear regulator. Alternatively, users can bypass the regulator, opting for a separate 2.5-V to 3.3-V supply. Other features include an operating temperature from –40°C to 105°C and an SPI/I2C port. Housed in an 80-lead low-profile quad flat package, the ADAU1966 costs $6.51 in quantities of 1000. For a datasheet, go to www.analog.com/static/imported-files/data_sheets/ADAU1966.pdf.
