Samsung’s Pro Class 2000 64-Gbyte embedded multimedia card (eMMC) uses 10-nm class process technology supports high-density and high-resolution content such as full HD video on mobile devices. The company will submit it to JEDEC next year for adoption as an industry standard. According to Samsung, it boasts 30% better performance than its predecessor, the Pro Class 1500. It offers 2000-IOPS random write speed and 5000-IOPS random read speed. Its respective 260-Mbyte and 50-Mbyte sequential read and write speeds are up to 10 times faster than a class 10 external memory card that reads at 24 Mbytes/s and writes at 12 Mbytes/s, enhancing the smoothness of multitasking on mobile gadgets, Samsung says. And, its 11.5- by 13-mm size is 20% smaller than the conventional 12- by 16-mm conventional memory form factor.
