Focus Enhancements announces new vice president of engineering for Semiconductor Group
Focus Enhancements has announced Michael Ngo has joined the company as vice president of engineering for its Semiconductor Group in its Hillsboro, Oregon, office. Ngo reports to Tom Hamilton, executive vice president and general manager of Focus Enhancements Semiconductor Group.
Ngo has more than 20 years of experience in semiconductor design leadership, with technical expertise in network processors, microprocessors and complex systems-on-chip. Most recently he was a co-founder and vice president of engineering for a wireless start-up, developing system-on-chip solutions for 802.16d/e base-station and customer premise equipment (CPE). Prior to that, Ngo was vice president of engineering at Sapphire Communications, leading the development of an Ethernet-in-the-first-mile/very high data rate digital subscriber line (EFM/VDSL) broadband chip-set. Ngo was also co-founder and vice president of engineering at BRECIS Communications, developing complex system-on-chip solutions for voice-over-IP and network-security applications. "As vice president of engineering, Michael is responsible for leading our technical organization in the design and development of semiconductor products in response to market needs," stated Tom Hamilton. "Michael has a proven track record of directing, energizing and motivating engineering teams through the development stage, into product delivery and support, providing products which meet customer and market expectations. We expect to benefit from his depth of experience in building and maintaining excellence in our Ultra Wideband and PC encoder technology leadership."
Brett Moyer, Focus Enhancements' president and chief executive officer, added, "Michael's semiconductor engineering expertise and enthusiasm for bringing products to market are perfectly aligned with the development phase we are in right now. Our digital Ultra Wideband chip taped-out last week and we will soon be in the throes of delivering to customers. This addition to the team better positions us to focus our products and performance on market requirements during what is a dynamic and exciting time for the company."
Ngo holds a BS degree in computer science from California State University, Hayward, as well as a BSEE degree from San Jose State University in California.
