GaAs high-power DPDT switch is RoHS-compliant

M/A-COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics, has released a new RoHS-compliant double-pole, double-throw (DPDT) switch for applications that require ultra high-power handling, low insertion loss and high isolation. The MASWSS0184 is a high-power switch that maximizes system linearity performance while reducing DC power consumption.

The MASWSS0184 switch is designed for 802.16 (WiMAX) and MESH network applications that require high power handling at P1dB of 40 dBm, low typical insertion loss of 1.0 dB and a high isolation of 30 dB. Typical applications for this product include two antenna solutions requiring diversity switching in linear systems, thus connecting the receiver and transmitter to both antennas.

For cost-sensitive and space-constrained applications, the MASWSS0184’s lead-free surface mount 3 mm x 3 mm PQFN packaging and competitive pricing are attractive product attributes, said the manufacturer. The switch is fabricated on a low-cost 0.5-micron gate-length GaAs process with full passivation, increasing reliability. Each MASWSS0184 is 100% RF tested to ensure performance compliance. The MASWSS0184 is available from stock and is priced at $2.25 for quantities of 10,000.
