Hittite to introduce 17 new products at IMS 2004
Hittite Microwave has unveiled plans to introduce 17 new products at the 2004 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium and Exhibition. Three new DC-5 GHz MMIC amplifiers will be added to its growing line of cascadeable SiGe and InGaP HBT gain blocks. While the HMC469MS8G & HMC471MS8G SMT-packaged amplifiers are dual-channel gain blocks that facilitate balanced and push-pull amplifier designs offering up to +36 dBm output IP3, the HMC480ST89 InGaP amplifier delivers +19 dBm P1dB through 2.5 GHz, with 19 dB gain.
To meet the growing demand for low-cost commercial microwave radios, four distributed amplifiers will now be available in surface mount 5 mm x 5 mm packages. These include HMC462LP5, HMC463LP5, HMC464LP5 & HMC465LP5. This family of wideband GaAs PHEMT amplifiers spans DC-20 GHz and offers noise figure as low as 2.2 dB, gain up to 17 dB, and output P1dB as high as +26 dBm to meet various LNA, driver, power amplifier, and fiber optic modulator driver requirements. It will also release the 12-16 GHz HMC490LP5 medium-power LNA, which combines a low 2.5 dB noise figure with a P1dB output power of +25 dBm in a 5 mm x 5 mm SMT package for microwave radio & VSAT applications.
Likewise, the new HMC452QS16G 1 W and HMC453QS16G 1.6 W InGaP HBT power amplifiers cover 450-2200 MHz and are externally tuned for best linearity in cellular, 3G, and UMTS frequency bands. These QSOP plastic-packaged amplifiers offer P1dB and output IP3 ratings as high +32 dBm and +50 dBm, respectively, as well as a power-down control for reduced power consumption.
The output frequency of active multiplier product line will be extended to 33 GHz with two new active X2 frequency multiplier die. The HMC448 and HMC449 low-noise GaAs PHEMT frequency multipliers provide +10 dBm of output power, excellent Fo and 3Fo suppression, and are suitable for use in LO multiplier chains in microwave and VSAT radio applications. These MMICs will also be offered in surface-mount packages later this year.
For PHS, 3G and UMTS infrastructure applications, the HMC381LP6 high IP3 dual downconverter operates from 1.7-2.2 GHz, and supports IF frequencies from 50-300 MHz. The HMC381LP6 delivers +27 dBm input IP3 and 9 dB conversion gain, while requiring only 0 dBm LO drive. This RFIC is housed in an industry standard, 6 mm x 6 mm QFN plastic package.
The HMC497LP4 direct quadrature modulator spans 100-4000 MHz and offers a dynamic output range of 168 dB. This new quadrature modulator complements the previously released +3 V HMC495LP3 modulator by offering wider bandwidth, higher linearity to +23 dBm output IP3, and improved carrier suppression to >42 dBc in +5 V applications.
Two new DC-4 GHz high-isolation SPDT switches provide up to 70 dB of isolation and are switched via a single TTL/CMOS compatible control line. An optional second control line (EN) can be used to command the switch into an "all-off" state. These switches are available in either 4 mm x 4 mm QFN, HMC349LP4C, or eight-lead MSOP, HMC349MS8G, plastic packages. Also released is the HMC233G8 DC-6 GHz high isolation SPDT non-reflective switch in an eight-lead hermetic package for high reliability applications.
