Underground system provides covert, pinpoint intrusion detection

Southwest Microwave’s new INTREPID MicroTrack buried cable sensor is designed to detect intruders and pinpoint their location to within three meters (10 feet). The MicroTrack system includes a processor unit and two pairs of buried cables. Each cable pair—-one transmitter and one receiver-—is buried 6 to 8 inches (15-20 cm) underground, creating an electromagnetic detection field that allows operators to detect disturbances and precisely locate intruders. A single MicroTrack system is capable of securing up to 400 meters (1300 feet). Multiple systems can be networked together to secure sites of any size.

MicroTrack is easy to configure, letting the installer tailor the system to an individual site’s requirements. Patented sensitivity leveling software facilitates easy calibration of the system to account for variations in site conditions or ground composition--resulting in consistent detection across the entire protected area. Software-controlled detection zones also contribute to MicroTrack’s reliable detection capabilities. Detection zones can be assigned anywhere along the cable--up to 100 zones per 200 meters (656 feet) of sensor cable and up to 200 zones per MicroTrack processor.

Designed for the outdoor perimeter security industry, it is now in the United States, with plans to offer later this year in select global markets.
