ADCs Linearize 60-MHz Transmit Bandwidth Using DPD
The dual LTC2158-14 and single LTC2153-14 high IF sampling, 14-bit, 310-Msample/s analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) from Linear Technology handle wide-bandwidth digital predistortion (DPD) linearization applications. The company says that the LTC2158-14 is the first dual, 310-Msample/s ADC on the market to enable linearization of transmission bandwidths up to 60 MHz using I/Q sampling. The device offers a short pipeline latency of five clock cycles. The single LTC2153-14 suits IF sampling architectures with transmit bandwidths of up to 30 MHz. Operating from a single 1.8-V supply, the dual LTC2158-14 consumes 362 mW/channel at 310 Msamples/s and specifies a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 68.8 dB and a spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 88 dB at baseband with a 1.32-V p-p input range. Both devices are part of a pin-compatible family of 170- to 310-Msample/s dual and single ADCs. The LTC2158-14 costs $168.30 each/1000. Datasheets for both devices are available at www.linear.com/product/LTC2158-14 and www.linear.com/product/LTC2153-14.
