High-power linear amplifier covers wide frequency range
Aethercomm’s Model Number SSPA 15.35-15.75-10 is a high power, broadband RF amplifier that operates from 15.35 GHz to 15.75 GHz. This PA suits military platforms as well as commercial applications because it offers high power over a 400 MHz bandwidth. This amplifier operates with a base plate temperature of 65 °C. The unit is offered with a heatsink as required. This amplifier has a typical P1dB of 15 W at room temperature. Saturated output power across the band is typically 15 W to 20 W. Noise figure at room temperature is 4.1 dB typical. This amplifier offers a typical gain of 42 dB with a typical gain flatness of ± 0.25 dB. Typical OIP3 is 47 dBm. Input and Output VSWR is 1.5:1 maximum. Class A current is approximately 5.3 A typical, employing a +28 Vdc supply. Spurious emissions are -60 dBc maximum.
This SSPA includes an external dc blanking command that enables and disables the module in 1000 ns maximum. Standard features include overvoltage/undervoltage protection, reverse-polarity protection. The output is fully protected from an open or short circuit presented to this port with no damage. There is an internal directional coupler for forward power sampling at a level of approximately 20 dB. Input/output and sampled RF connectors are SMA female. DC and command voltages are accessible via feed-through capacitors. This amplifier operates from –40 °C to +65 °C base plate. It is packaged in a modular housing that is approximately 8.20 in. x 8.28 in. x 1.18 in. without a heatsink.
