The device is powered by ALEOS embedded intelligence and a robust ARM9 processor. The gateway includes a 10/100 Ethernet port and a mini-USB port that simplifies diagnostics and updates. It also includes IPSec VPN and GRE tunneling to protect data from unauthorized access.

The Raven XE is well-suited for applications requiring 24/7 remote monitoring and the ability to quickly send and receive large files, such as photos or interactive media content.
