Antenna Chip Targets Built-In FM Applications
The miniature 2405 FM chip antenna from Yageo Corp. targets mobile applications by replacing the external connection mechanisms of traditional FM antennas with built-in capabilities. It offers reception bandwidth between 88 and 108 MHz and exceptional low-frequency reception performance, according to the company, supporting a central frequency of 98 MHz. Measuring 25 by 4 by 61 mm, the 2405 requires 50% of the clearance of a traditional antenna, enabling it to be fully integrated in miniaturized portable electronic devices like mobile phones, smart phones, and notebooks. Production will start in the first quarter of 2009, with an estimated initial shipment of 1 million pieces per month.
