Basestation SoC Advances 4G Evolution
Forecasting double the performance of similar 3G/4G system-on-a-chip (SoC) devices while easing basestation design with floating-point capabilities, the TMS320TCI6616 SoC exploits Texas Instruments’ KeyStone multicore architecture and integrates the industry’s first multi-core DSP that processes both fixed- and floating-point math.
Integrated as configurable coprocessors, physical layers (PHYs) enable software-defined radio, which allows users to embrace emerging standards without adding external components. Autonomous packet processing manages packets from both core and radio networks. Additionally, for custom Internet protocol (IP) implementations that enable product differentiation, the device integrates four C66x DSP cores.
