Bluetooth IC Optimized For Consumer Products
The BlueCore Consumer CE700 from CSR is the first Bluetooth device optimized for consumer electronics products, according to the company. Together with the CBSM software, the IC offers the most cost-effective and easy-to-integrate solution for digital TVs, hi-fis, DVD players, handheld game consoles, and health and fitness products, CSR claims.
The CE700 features an embedded RISC processor and CSR’s on-chip Kalimba DSP. The powerful DSP enables designers to boost the functionality and performance of their products by adding superior audio enhancement and echo- and noise-cancellation technologies, including CSR’s proprietary CVC.
The flexible CE700 device also integrates the company’s FastStream, a low-latency, high-quality music and voice codec that significantly reduces the latency of the audio link to avoid “lip-sync” issues when listening to music or watching videos using Bluetooth headphones. The device supports Bluetooth v2.1+EDR and will support the forthcoming HDP expected in the first quarter of this year, for use in medical, health, and fitness products.
CSR demonstrated the CE700 and CBSM at the 2009 International CES in Las Vegas last week. The BlueCore CE700, CBSM application software, a hardware development board, and a software development kit will all be available during the first quarter of 2009.
