The FDFME3N311ZT boost switch from Fairchild Semiconductor provides high efficiency for boost conversion circuits in cell phones, medical devices, and other portable and consumer applications. It combines a 30-V integrated N-channel PowerTrench MOSFET and Schottky diode. Also, it offers 55-pF typical input capacitance and 1-nC total gate charge. Its 30-V breakdown voltage can be used to drive up to seven or eight white LEDs as well. Housed in a 1.6- by 1.6- by 0.55-mm MicroFET package, it costs $0.25 each in 1000-unit quantities with delivery in eight to 12 weeks. Samples are available now.
