The Cypress Semiconductor CY8CTST241 and CY8CTST242 deliver high performance, reliable accuracy, and responsiveness via a true single-layer sensor panel as opposed to traditional capacitive touchscreens using a two-layer sensor.

The TrueTouch touchscreen controllers from Cypress Semiconductor provide a unique feature that allows mobile-product makers to offer the performance of capacitive touchscreens at resistive touchscreen costs. Found on the company’s CY8CTST241 and CY8CTST242 controllers, the feature delivers high performance, reliable accuracy, and responsiveness via a true single-layer sensor panel as opposed to traditional capacitive touchscreens using a two-layer sensor. Proprietary algorithms interface with a true single-layer sensor with no bridges to deliver two-layer performance. As per Cypress, eliminating the second sensor layer can save manufacturers 30% percent or more on sensor costs. TrueTouch delivers an accuracy better than 1.25 mm, a response time of 80 Hz, and an active power of 3.6mW.
