DC-DC Converter Boosts Battery Time By 20%
The 3-MHz, 100-mA TPS62730 synchronous step-down dc-dc converter from texas Instruments integrates a bypass switch and the unique DCS-Control technology to extend battery runtime by 20% in wireless and MSP430 MCU-based designs. With an operating current of 25 mA, the device supports low-power apps such as Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy, metering and building technologies, mobile phones, consumer electronics, and medical. Other features include a 95% power-conversion efficiency and less than 15-mV p-p output voltage ripple. Available in a six-pin, 1- by 1.5- by 0.6-mm SON package, it costs $0.85 each in lots of 1000.
