2.4-GHz Coupling Chip Antenna Is Smallest Yet

Featuring low sensitivity to environmental interference and less stray capacitance, the 5320 Coupling Chip Antenna from Yageo Corp. is the industry’s smallest, according to the company. The chip measures only 5.3 by 2.0 by 1.2 mm and incorporates a special feed design that increases radiation efficiency. The antenna supports bandwidths of 2.4 to 2.484 GHz (Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11b/g/n applications) with an average gain of –5.6 dBi, at 50-Ω impedance and a maximum power of 1 W.

The feed design effectively reduces the product testing time by contributing less stray capacitance. It also makes the antenna particularly suitable for micro-communication products that are sensitive to environmental interference. Samples of the 5320 Coupling Chip Antenna are available now with mass production scheduled for October.
