Development kit helps evaluate 802.11b wireless LAN Node

For OEMs seeking to wireless-enable their products, DPAC Technologies is offering the Airborne 802.11b wireless LAN node module evaluation and development kit. It allows users to demonstrate and evaluate the Airborne module's performance and capabilities. The kit consists of a main development board populated with the Airborne module, a highly integrated 802.11b module incorporating a radio, baseband processor, application processor and software for a drop-in Web-enabled WiFi solution.

According to DPAC, the Airborne 802.11b kit is a versatile development platform for rapidly integrating the Airborne module into new designs. The kit comes with a full suite of development tools and utilities, which include an Airborne evaluation utility, OEM configuration tool, dynamic link library and virtual serial port driver. While the Airborne evaluation utility allows connection of any device with an RS232 serial port to the Airborne module, establishing an 802.11 wireless connection, the OEM configuration tool enables Airborne module configuration so it meets specific design and application requirements. The dynamic link library provides a Windows-based application programming interface callable from any C, C++ or Visual Basic application. Lastly, the virtual serial port driver offers a quick way to convert from wired to wireless connectivity (for OEMs with applications already written for devices linked to a standard serial port).

For flexibility, the Airborne 802.11b wireless LAN kit offers various I/O connections: digital and RS232 UART ports, multiple GPIO ports, analog input ports and an optional SPI bus port. In addition, the kit includes an 802.11 access point, full documentation and user's guide, and a monopole high-gain antenna.
