Router Enables High-Bandwidth Applications In Harsh Environments

The third-generation Digi Connect WAN 3G IA wireless wide-area network (WAN) router from Digi International provides secure primary and backup connectivity to remote devices in severe environments. It supports industrial protocols and features high-speed 3G connectivity enabling high-bandwidth applications like remote video surveillance in harsh environments. It also suits utility, pipeline, traffic, industrial automation, and other industrial applications.

The router supports HSDPA (GSM) and EVDO (CDMA) connections and features Class 1 Division 2 industrial certification. It also supports Modbus TCP for easy connectivity to programmable logic controllers (PLCs), remote terminal units (RTUs), and other industrial devices. And, it includes Ethernet and serial ports, a terminal block for 9- to 30-V dc power, a dual-inline (DIN) rail kit for mounting in industrial environments, and an industrial temperature rating of –25°C to 75°C for GSM models and –30°C to 75°C for CDMA models.

Furthermore, the Digi Connect WAN 3G IA features built-in virtual private network (VPN) with IPSec for creating secure connections over public networks. It also features Digi SureLink for persistent connections over wireless networks and Digi Connectware Manager for easy setup, configuration, and maintenance of large installations. It supports Python, an easy to use, object-based, free open-source programming language for developing customized controlling applications as well. Available now, the Digi Connect WAN 3G IA starts at less than $800.
