Enhanced BSP Accelerates Embedded System Design
MD&D News Staff
Pentek has added features to the ReadyFlow board support package (BSP) that promise to simplify embedded development for the Cobalt family of Xilinx Virtex-6-based FPGA modules. These include a command-line interface that allows hardware to run out-of-the-box without writing code and a turn-key signal analyzer for data display, validation, and monitoring.
Targeting the hardware features of specific Cobalt modules, the command line interface allows single-command control of parameters, i.e., the number of enabled channels, clock frequency, and data transfer size. It is callable from within a larger user app and allows users to dynamically change operating parameters while the app is running.
Teaming with the command line interface, the signal analyzer allows immediate acquisition and display of analog-to-digital data in both time and frequency domains. The analyzer includes built-in measurements for standard parameters such as second/third harmonics and total harmonic distortion. Interactive cursors enable the marking of data points and the instant calculation of frequency and amplitude.
Each ReadyFlow package is specific to the module it supports and a single developer license fee is $2500, which also includes royalty-free use of app and example code for multiple projects and lifetime support.
