ESD Protection Array Trims Capacitance And Profile

The VBUS54ED-FBL four-line ESD-protection (electrostatic discharge) array from Vishay Intertechnology features a 2.5- by 1-mm footprint, a profile of 0.55 mm, and a load capacitance of 0.6 pF to fit into space-constrained portable applications such as notebook computers, cell phones, MP3 players, and portable gaming systems. Maximum leakage current is below 0.1 μA at the working voltage of 5.5 V. Also, it offers a typical breakdown voltage of 7.9 V at 1 mA and a maximum clamping voltage of 12.5 V at 2 A. It provides transient protection for data lines as per IEC 61000 4 2 (ESD) at 15-kV air and contact discharge. And, the lead-free device complies with the European Union’s Restrictions on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) 2002/95/EC and the Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment (WEEE) 2002/96/EC regulations.
