Surface-mount-molded toroid offers high Q for RF applications
Gowanda Electronics’ SMT 2920 is a series of robust surface-mount (SM) inductors that provide design engineers with a molded and shielded toroidal inductor for RF applications, especially those with high Q requirements.
The new SMT 2920 is molded for durability, shielded to allow usage in the presence of magnetic fields and designed to be insensitive to operating temperature changes over the range of –55°C to +105°C. It is designed specifically for applications where temperature stability, high Q and high frequency are important. These new inductors are expected to be used in applications such as RF signal circuitry in communications equipment, test & measurement equipment, medical diagnostic equipment and industrial process control equipment. dditional applications include use in telecommunications, navigation equipment, networking, and other computer peripherals, as well as in security systems, instrumentation, bar code and laboratory analysis equipment, aviation equipment, navigation equipment, electronic test equipment, and cable TV.
Technical specifications for inductors in the SMT2920 series include inductance range of 0.50 µH to 5.0 µH, Q of 100, DCR from 0.10 to 0.50 Ohms and current rating from 0.78 to 1.75 A. The SMT 2920 series is constructed with a powdered iron core for temperature stability (-55°C to +105°C).
