Trumpeted as the world’s smallest 3.75G Penta-band HSPA+ module, the HE910 from Telit Wireless Systems measures 28.2 by 28.2 by 2.6 mm in a land-grid array (LGA) package. Operating in 3G mode, it supports 850-MHz, 900-MHz, 1.7-GHz, 1.9-GHz, and 2.1-GHz bands as well as 2G communications with quad-band GPRS and EDGE class 33. Supporting HSDPA transfer rates of 14.4 Mbits/s (Cat 10) and 5.7 Mbits/s (Cat 6) HSUPA, the module is a viable contender for high-throughput apps. The company plans future firmware updates offering more throughput boosts without the need for hardware upgrades. Other standard module features include a high-speed serial port and receive diversity. A-GPS for indoor fixes and simultaneous GPS with voice/data are available as options.
