IAD Enables Smooth WiMAX-To-LTE Transitions

For transitioning from WiMAX to LTE, 4G chipmaker Sequans Communications and 4G solutions provider Greenpacket offer what they call the industry’s first 4G WiMAX and LTE TDD indoor dual-mode integrated access device (IAD). The DA 235 dual-mode customer premises equipment promises to deliver uninterrupted service to users connecting to either WiMAX or LTE networks. It relies on Sequans’ SQN5120 dual-mode IC, which integrates WiMAX and LTE on one die. The DA-235 features multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) A&B, switched transmit diversity, maximal ratio combining, and a 5-dBi omni antenna. Compliant with current LTE Category-4 (3GPP- R9) and WiMAX 802.16e-2009 standards, it delivers downlink/uplink speeds to 150 Mbits/s and 50 Mbits/s for LTE TDD and a combined speed of 40 Mbits/s for WiMAX. Wi-Fi 802.11n, one LAN port, and one RJ-11 port are also on board. More details on the DA-235 are available at www.greenpacket.com/da235-wimax-lte-modem.html.
