Mixer features integrated LO driver amplifier
Hittite Microwave Corp. has released a new high-IP3 MMIC mixer with integrated LO amplifier suitable for cellular/3G infrastructure applications from 0.7 to 1.4 GHz. The HMC483MS8G(E) is a high dynamic range MMIC mixer with input IP3 performance of +33 dBm for downconversion and +30 dBm for upconversion, which is achieved from only 0 dBm of LO drive. The high-input P1dB of +24 dBm rivals traditional active FET mixers while offering a much smaller standard IC footprint, according to Hittite. And the wide DC to 350 MHz IF bandwidth will satisfy many GSM and CDMA Tx and Rx frequency plans.
The HMC483MS8G(E) is pin-for-pin compatible with the HMC485MS8G(E), which is a 1.7 to 2.4 GHz mixer with integrated LO amplifier. Together, these mixers allow designers to use a single PCB layout for 800, 900, 1900 and 2100 MHz applications.
The HMC483MS8G(E) and the HMC485MS8G(E) are housed in RoHS-compliant MSOP8GE packages.
