To address the need for interfacing multisignal references to multiple instruments, Spectrum Instruments has readied an intelligent reference TM-4D, an integrated digital/analog distribution amplifier. With the TM-4 signal generator inside, it can make its own precise timing and frequency references or it can take in as many as four digital and two analog external signals and distribute them to 16 digital and eight analog outputs. With additional front-panel connectors, the TM-4D can be expanded to as many as 24 digital and 12 analog outputs.

In essence, the Intelligent Reference TM-4D breaks new ground for time and frequency references. It is suitable for applications using both digital and analog signals in multiple instruments such as simulcast communications and laboratories. It can also be configured as an IRIG Serial Time Code Generator.
