LNAs Keep Down Noise And Costs In Basestations

In addition to noise figures down to 0.5 dB, the MAAL-010704, MAAL-010705, and MAAL-010706 family of low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) from M/A-COM Technology Solutions promise both space and cost savings in applications such as wireless infrastructure basestations. They exhibit linearity with an output third-order intercept point (OIP3) of less than 34 dBm and sport a rugged design with 950 V of electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. Other shared features include an active bias circuit, adjustable current via external resistors, 3-V or 5-V operation, and broadband internal matching at both input and output. The MAAL-010704-TR3 operates across a frequency range from 100 MHz to 3.5 GHz while the MAAL-010705-TR3 spans 500 MHz to 1.6 GHz and the MAAL-010706-TR3 covers 1.4 GHz to 4 GHz. Datasheets for the MAAL-010704, MAAL-010705, and MAAL-010706, respectively, are viewable at http://macomtech.com/datasheets/MAAL-010704_V1_JUL11.pdf, http://macomtech.com/datasheets/MAAL-010705_V1_MAY11.pdf, and http://macomtech.com/datasheets/MAAL-010706_V1_JUN11.pdf. The devices are available for purchase from the distributor, Richardson Electronics Ltd. Visit the company’s website at www.richardsonrfpd.com.
