Power amplifier family suits point-to-point radios
A line of power amplifiers for point-to-point radios from M/A-COM, the MAAPGM00XX-DIE power amplifier family, covers allocated point-to-point bands from 2.5 GHz to 19.7 GHz. These amplifiers produce power levels ranging from 1 W to 2 W over various frequency bands and feature excellent linearity with high gain. Additionally, these amplifiers meet the typical requirements for point-to-point radios with third-order intercept points from 38 dBm to 44 dBm.
The amplifiers have gain up to 34 dB, with flatness of less then ±1 dB across individual point-to-point radio bands. Each amplifier's drain supply can be set within the 6 V to 10 V range to optimize system performance including linearity, gain and power efficiency.
All die are fabricated using M/A-COM's Multi-function Self-Aligned Gate (MSAG) process, which features a rugged polyimide coating and no air bridges. The Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) is one million hours at a 170°C junction temperature and the package option is a 20-lead, 5 mm PQFN package, which is suitable for standard surface -ount assembly processes.
Each amplifier part is available in bare die and plastic packaged options. Leaded versions are available on request for military applications.
M/A-COM's MAAPGM00XX-DIE power amplifier family is available now. The prices of the bare die range from $27 to $32 at 1000-piece quantities. The prices on the plastic packaged options range from $24 to $29 at 1000-piece quantities.
