AGC/video amplifier chip enhances digital set-top box performance
NEC’s new AGC amplifier IC, the UPC3231GV, combines a 30 MHz to 90 MHz AGC amplifier with an on-chip video amplifier to provide outputs for both ODFM modulators and QPSK/QAM data transmission. High gain and 61 dB of gain control range allow the UPC3231GV to handle a wide range of input signals, while low noise and low distortion ensure the delivery of a clean, accurate signal.
Typical performance specifications include a high gain of 65 dB, low noise (5 dB), low distortion (53 dBc IM3 at -20 dBm PIN), and 105µV (0.5 VP-P)/tone. It requires a supply voltage of 5 Vdc.
The UPC3231GV is housed in an 8-pin plastic surface mount SSOP “GV” package. RoHS-compliant, it features a footprint of just 2.9 mm x 4.9 mm. In stock, it is priced at $0.99, in 10K quantities.
