PIN Diode Targets High-Power WiMAX/Wi-Fi Switching

A new high-power, broadband PIN diode switch from M/A-COM Technology Solutions targets WiMAX and Wi-Fi applications. The MASW-000834-13560T is a 50-W single-pole double-throw (SP2T) high-linearity common-anode transmit/receive switch in a 4-mm micro-leadframe package (MLP).

Article Tools

The switch offers an excellent isolation-to-loss ratio for both transmit and receive states from 0.5 to 6.0 GHz. Transmit loss is 0.33 dB at 2010 MHz (5 V, 20 mA) and 0.38 dB at 3.5 GHz. Receive isolation is 44 dB at 2010 MHz and 36 dB at 3.5 GHz. For maximum switch performance, the diode delivers a +65-dBm input third-order intercept point at 2010 MHz.
