Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 and 800 processors are now available for design into the latest upper-tier mobile devices. They promise increased performance over the widely used Snapdragon S4 Pro processors while maintaining superior battery life.

The Snapdragon 800 incorporates the quad-core Krait 400 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU, and Hexagon v5 DSP as well as the latest 4G LTE modem. The Krait 400 CPU runs at 2.3 GHz per core, bringing a whole new level of performance to mobile devices. Overall, the 800 delivers up to 75% better performance than the S4 Pro.

The 800 includes Qualcomm’s IZat location technology. The processor also taps the latest Category 4 LTE to deliver up to 150 Mbits/s downstream and features 4G LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation. It includes 802.11ac Wi-Fi, USB 3.0, Bluetooth, and FM. And, this “everything” mobile chip offers UltraHD video, dual image signal processors for the camera, HD multichannel audio with DTS-HD and Dolby Digital Plus audio, and higher display resolution up to 2560 by 2048 and Miracast 1080p HD support.

The Snapdragon 600 is similar to the 800 but offers up to 40% better performance over the S4 Pro with a Krait 300 quad-core CPU running at speeds to 1.9 GHz, in addition to an Adreno 320 GPU and support for LPDDR3 memory.

The 600 and 800 are sampling now. The 600 will be in production in the second quarter of 2013, and the 800 is expected to be available by the middle of the year.
