Programmable prescaler aids high-frequency PLLs and timing devices
Santa Rosa, Calif. — Centellax Inc. has released a unique new divider unit for use in high-frequency phase-locked loops (PLLs) and in timing devices employed in the telecommunications applications. The new model UXM15P is a programmable divider that features wideband operation in both a binary divide-by-2/4/8 mode and a multimodulus divide-by-4/5/6/7/8/9 mode. Operating range for the binary mode is DC to 20 GHz, and DC to 15 GHz for multimodulus mode. Other features include a low phase noise of -153 dBc at 10 kHz, single-ended and/or differential operation, large output swings of >1 Vppk/side, and 0.6 W power consumption. It comes in a 4 x 4 QFN Package with parallel control lines. Target applications for the programmable prescaler include a fixed-modulus prescaler for high-frequency PLLs, a multimode prescaler for integer-N and fractional-N PLLs, and low phase noise synchronous timing devices in telecom.
