RF Power Detector Sets Performance Benchmarks
Self promoted as the industry’s smallest, fastest, and most power-efficient RF power detector, the MAX2209A 800-MHz to 2-GHz RF power detector from Maxim Integrated Products achieves a 140-ns RF step-response time. In terms of efficiency, it consumes 3.9 mA of quiescent current and 25 μA in shutdown. Additionally, its four-pin, 1 mm˛ ultra-chip-scale package (UCSP) saves board space in small-form-factor designs.
Other features include a power detection range of –25 dBm to –5 dBm and a consistent, linear output-voltage-to-input-power relationship across the entire frequency range. Part-to-part residual error over temperature is ±0.1 dB over the input power range. The MAX2209A operates from a 2.7-V to 5-V supply and from –40°C to 85°C. Prices start at $0.56 each in lots of 1000. For a complete datasheet.
