Embedded Module Supports 900-MHz HSPA

Designed for HSPA networks, the MC8792V from Sierra Wireless offers triband (900-, 1900-, and 2100-MHz) support for HSPA/UMTS and quad-band support for EDGE/GPRS/GSM network access for roaming on high-speed networks worldwide. As such, the embedded module allows new or existing OEM customers to expand their product offerings.

The module can be integrated into a variety of OEM devices, including fixed wireless terminals and point-of-sale devices, as well as computers and ruggedized laptops. It offers complete wireless data solutions in addition to GPS support. The MC8792V also enables hardware devices to function as powerful communications tools with both voice and data capabilities. It supports peak data speeds of up to 7.2 Mbits/s on the downlink and 2.0 Mbits/s on the uplink (with future upgrades to 5.76 Mbits/s).

Samples of the MC8792V are available to OEM customers for integration and testing. Volume shipments are expected to begin late in the fourth quarter.
