GaAs digital step attenuators offer excellent distortion performance
Skyworks has introduced a new family of general-purpose gallium arsenide (GaAs) attenuators with excellent distortion performance for various types of linear applications including UMTS, WCDMA, WiMAX and WLAN. These GaAs digital single-positive-control step attenuators are also designed for base station transmitter and receivers and can be used in RFID transceivers. Targeted at OEMs building any type of receiver or modem, these broadband, low-insertion loss attenuators are built in small packages of only 3 mm x 3 mm. The bilateral RF ports allow input and output. In addition, an external control voltage of only 2.7 V to 5.5 V is required.
SKY12322 with 5 bits and 0.5 dB LSB provides up to 15.5 dB of attenuation. And SKY12323 with 5 bits and 1 dB LSB provides up to 31 dB of attenuation. Similarly, SKY12325 with 3 bits and 1dB LSB provides up to 7 dB of attenuation. The monolithic GaAs digital attenuators are designed for low insertion.
These products are available for sampling, and in units of 10,000 are priced as follows:
- The SKY12322, which operates from 500 MHz to 4 GHz is priced at $2.10
- The SKY12323, which operates from 500 MHz to 3 GHz at $2.10
- The SKY12325, which operates from 500 MHz to 6 GHz at $1.70
