SP3T Switch Serves Applications To 3.5 GHz
Tyco Electronics M/A-COM announced the availability of the model MASW-008955 RoHS-compliant, single-pole, triple-throw (SP3T) switch for applications from DC to 3.5 GHz. The tiny switch, based on half-micron GaAs PHEMT MMIC technology and packed in a 2-mm, 8-lead PDFN housing, has typical rise time of 25 ns and fall time of 30 ns with typical insertion loss of 0.55 dB at 2.45 GHz. The isolation at that test frequency is typically 22 dB with 20-dB return loss. The linear switch handles as much as +35 dBm power at 1-dB compression and has a third-order intercept point of +54 dBm at 2.45 GHz.
Of the switch, Tom Galluccio of Tyco Electronics M/A-COM noted: " Typical applications for this product include filter and antenna switching in WLAN or Bluetooth systems that connect separate receive functions to a common antenna. The switching time required from the software/baseband to the output power at the antenna can vary widely from application to application. The part can be used in all systems operating up to 3.5 GHz requiring low control voltage." The switch is priced at a mere $0.24 for 100,000 quantity.
