Clock recover instrument minimizes jitter
The T-TECH model GPLL-8500 is a laboratory quality clock recovery instrument that recovers the clock from 8.5 Gbps data streams such as fiberchannel, then attenuates jitter using PLL methods. It has many unique attributes, such as the use of cavity bandpass filters and limiting amplifiers to improve sensitivity at lower transition densities, and a two-position front-panel switch to select FLAT or EQUALIZED data stream signal processing.
Besides using lower bit rate clock recovery, this design offers the suppression of far-from-carrier phase noise using cavity filters and avoids primitive clock recovery algorithms such as derivative-with-full-wave-rectification. Although it offers a standard PLL bandwidth of {8500/1667} 5 MHz, custom bandwidths can also be supplied, said the maker. Other bit rates, such as 10 Gbps, are also available. It is priced at $16,700.
