Measuring just 26 by 20 mm and standing 0.9 mm tall, Taiyo Yuden’s PAS2126FR2R5504 polyacene capacitors (supercaps) boast 0.5-F capacitance (see the figure). These devices are designed for pulse current discharge of LED flash, which enables clear photographic images at low light conditions for mobile phones, smart phones, digital still cameras, and digital camcorders, which all demand a compact footprint. They also can be used for pulse current discharge required by portable printers and scanners as well as SSD’s uninterruptible power-supply applications. In sample quantities, they cost $3.90 per unit. For details, go to www.yuden.co.jp/productdata/catalog/en/capacitor05_e.pdf.
