Tri-Axis Analog Gyroscope Measures 4 mm By 4 mm By 1 mm3
Deemed by the company to be the smallest to date, the STMicroelectronics L3G462A three-axis, analog-output gyroscope measures 4 mm by 4 mm by 1 mm3 and relies on a single sensing structure for measurement along three orthogonal axes. This approach apparently eliminates any interference between axes, boosting accuracy and reliability. Operating with a supply from 2.4 to 3.6 V, the device features power-down and sleep-to-wake modes, a full-scale measurement range of ±625 dps, ±0.04 dps/°C stability over temperature, ±0.017%/°C sensitivity, and a 0.017-dps/√Hz noise level. With volume production coming at third quarter’s end, price is $3.50 each in lots of 1000.
