Mobile WiMAX Chip Hoists Integration Bars, Trims Footprint And Costs

Trumpeting loftier integration levels and a smaller footprint while forecasting lower system costs, the Sequans SQN1310 Mobile WiMAX chip draws upon the company’s SQN1200 series architecture and software. Including memory, the SQN1310 provides baseband and dual-band RF in a 65-nm die within a 9- by 9-mm package. In addition to exploiting state-of-the-art power reduction techniques, its 65-nm architecture enables very low power consumption. Accompanying the device is a comprehensive software package, the 4G-EZ software suite, which includes a turnkey solution for both Android and Microsoft platforms plus seamless 3G/4G handover. The SQN1310 is sampling now with volume levels appearing next quarter.
