Antenna Tuner Drives RF-MEMS Handset
WiSpry’s dynamically tunable antenna is now at the core of the first mass-produced RF-MEMS-enabled (microelectromechanical systems) handset. The unique component extends usable bandwidth for small-form-factor antennas and dynamically compensates for interference from hand and finger placement. The WS2017 tunable impedance match (TIM) circuit is a network of low-loss inductors working with WiSpry’s MEMS capacitors. Its resulting impedance-transforming network dynamically compensates for VSWR up to 20:1 or greater. The setting for the network is controlled via a serial bus and continuously updated in sync with the radio signal.
