$100 million award to fund data distribution networks for the Pacific Air Force

Apptis Inc., in conjunction with The Centech Group, has won a five-year contract from the U.S. Air Force to provide the Pacific Air Force (PACAF) with an intrabuilding distribution network for U.S. Air Force facilities throughout the Pacific region. PACAF commands approximately 45,000 military and civilian personnel in Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Diego Garcia, Japan and South Korea. The contract has a potential value of $100 million.

The program will construct a physical-layer network infrastructure. The intrabuilding cabling and electronics will form the network that connects the individual wall outlets in each facility to the backbone switch also known as the end building node. The contract calls for wireless technologies such as infrared, radio frequency and free-space optics.

Apptis will conduct assessments of existing infrastructure and perform an analysis of PACAF's requirements. Based on that analysis, Apptis will provide the design and installation of the approved upgrades that will support voice, video and data connectivity for unclassified, U.S. secret, and coalition secret networks.

Apptis provides IT solutions and services to government and industry. The company's capabilities include enterprise support services and network engineering. Apptis is privately held with headquarters in Chantilly, Va.
