Basestation Takes Best New Product Award At ISC West

The BreezeMAX Extreme 5000 wireless broadband solution from Alvarion Ltd. won the Security Industry Association’s Best in Public Safety Solutions Award at the 2010 New Product Showcase at ISC West in Las Vegas. According to Alvarion, the BreezeMAX Extreme 5000 is the first commercially available WiMAX 802.16e solution for the 5-GHz license-exempt frequency band.

The BreezeMAX Extreme 5000 basestation is designed to offer advanced air-protocol capabilities with superior performance that lowers the cost of high-bandwidth, carrier-class broadband connectivity for a variety of applications resulting in an improved business case. The company also says that its compact form factor makes it ideal for public safety applications.

The outdoor basestation is a self-sustained WiMAX ecosystem that suits wireless Internet service providers (WISPs), municipalities, utilities, and enterprises as well as public safety networks, Alvarion says. It offers advanced video handling mechanisms for high-quality real-time video as well as unique wireless video multicasting to multiple clients. It provides secure connectivity with embedded encryption mechanisms as well.
