Boingo grows to 45,000 hot spots worldwide, with 17,000 locations in Asia
Boingo Wireless has announced a roaming agreement with KT, the largest service provider in South Korea, that will add 14,000 hot spots to Boingo's global Wi-Fi network. The agreement marks Boingo's entry into the South Korean market and increases its worldwide hot spot total to more than 45,000 locations.
KT is one of the world's largest hot spot operators and is a founding member of the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA). Key locations in KT's NESPOT wireless network include Seoul's Incheon International Airport and Gimpo Airport, the country's largest domestic terminal. Across the country, hot spots are located in restaurants, cafes, hotels, bus terminals, train stations, convention centers and other convenient locations. These include Hilton and Intercontinental hotels; Hard Rock Cafe, House of Blues, McDonald's and Lotteria restaurants.
KT's success with Wi-Fi builds on its aggressive rollout of broadband Internet services, which has helped South Korea become one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world. KT has more than 500,000 subscribers to its Wi-Fi services.
